Night Rose
5-11-09

What is this oh twilight love
of sunsets in rosey skies
and stories of the stolen child
hidden happy in the forest of the deep dark land
with a fairy hand in hand
and weeping angels of old gray stone
and old clear mountain falls
to sing their primal song
sent pounding through my blood.

Oh cool mist wind
which paints my skin
in flighty chilly finger trails
trailing kisses up my arm
up my arm like soft warm lips
soft warm lips upon my own
to capture me in bliss.

The stars, oh eyes of angels lost
gaze down upon me with your ardor
and bright jeweled grace come light my face
come light my face in passion's glow
and let me dance upon the snow
where winter flakes come down like rain
to catch like roses in my hair
and fall to rest upon my nose
then gently fade away.

the empty skies stretch in your eyes
and whisper all the stolen secrets
in every breath like fanning leaf
which brushes soft across my face
to chase the nightmare sights away
back into their shroud.

And your words like braded lightning air
thread sharp like gold through storm seas where
waves crash iron upon the shore
and come to lie in peace.

The lullaby sings me to sleep
with a strangely haunting melody
that flits each new night through my dreams
and bids me come awake.

The moon is gone
there is no light
only whispers I can't quite hear
only a shadow I can't quite find
and a plea for me to stay.

Your language is very vivid in this poem. I love the aliteration and assonance, too. I really like how you link emotion and nature. You seem to be describing some sort of gentle violence or excitement through nature in this piece.
Well done.
